Audre Lorde was an internationally recognized, unapologetic Black womyn of Barbadian + Grenadian descent. A self-described “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet,” Audre’s weapon of choice was her pen. A womanist, civil rights activist, and writer, her work transcended silence and explored the intersectionality between identities and systems of oppression; white supremacy, racism, patriarchy, heteronormativity, sexism, and homophobia. Andre wrote many revolutionary pieces, such as: The Black Unicorn. Between Ourselves, Uses Of The Erotic: The Erotic As Power, I Am Your Sister: Black Women Organizing Across Sexualities, Lesbian Party: An Anthology, Sister Outsider: Essays And Speeches, and many more.
