What is Cultured Kinfolk?

Cultured Kinfolk is an Afro-Holistic lifestyle shop and cultural archive for modern African diasporic living.
We curate culturally rooted pieces for your mind, body, and spirit—bringing music, history, style, wellness, and spirituality together in one place. Cultured Kinfolk exists outside traditional institutions, creating a space where African diasporic culture can be lived, worn, practiced, and preserved in everyday life.
For the mind, you’ll find books, essays, interviews, and cultural media exploring African diasporic history, memory, and contemporary life.
For the body, you’ll find style and adornment—African diaspora music band tees, jewelry, and fashion by designers across the diaspora.
For the spirit, you’ll find ancestral herbs and wellness goods rooted in Global South traditional medicine and Afro-Holistic living.
With over 3,500 orders from customers around the world, Cultured Kinfolk has grown into a global destination for people who live within, are connected to, or deeply value African diasporic culture—whether by heritage, curiosity, or shared values..
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Cultured Kinfolk was founded by Janet Luz Sackey, a New York City–born public historian from Harlem and Washington Heights, and a proud daughter of immigrants from Ghana and the Dominican Republic.
Janet holds a BA in African Diaspora History and Web Technology. Her African diasporic upbringing—moving between cultures, languages, spiritual traditions, and histories—deeply informs how she approaches storytelling, design, wellness, and digital space.
Cultured Kinfolk is her long-term project exploring how history can be made tangible, accessible, and protected through products, writing, technology, and community-based cultural work.
